Here’s an ADULTS-ONLY excerpt from May Day ~

I start to pick up my novel, but think better of it. The breeze and the heat are making me drowsy. I lay still with my eyes closed and imagine feeling as adored as the woman in Y Tu Mamá También. It’s not my usual fantasy, the one where I’m partying with Duran Duran on their yacht off of Monaco. This one is way more crude and so realistic I can smell the jasmine in the air. I’m outside and it feels like a sauna—each breath sears my lungs and burns me from the inside, like drags from a clove cigarette. I get a rush from the dry heat, better than nicotene. I’m wearing a thin, short sundress, just as the woman in the movie did, with no bra, and dancing in a Mexican courtyard with a man whose name I don’t even know. He’s got on some cheap cologne, something obvious and brash from a drugstore, and the scent mixes with his sweat and it might as well be called Pure Sex. I can smell how much he wants me. There’s traditional Latino music playing on this tinny little portable stereo. It’s not terribly loud, but it’s exuberant and I love it just because it’s something to dance to. He’s behind me, twisting his hips in some sort of exotic Latin move, and pressing his erection into my back. I let him. I hear the click-click of dominoes on tables and the chattering of strangers and, somewhere, the barking of a dog. And now he’s stroking my sunwarmed shoulder and hooking the spaghetti strap of my dress in his finger. He’s sliding it down slowly, giving me time to stop him. I don’t. That flimsy cotton moves over my breast and down to my elbow, and I’m dancing topless with him now for everyone to see. He covers my breast with his hand and whispers filthy things in Spanish into my ear. I nod, not even caring what he’s saying. The words don’t matter—I know perfectly well what he wants. Now he’s moving his other hand down my thigh and beneath the hem of my dress. His palm is calloused and it scratches my skin a bit. The old Mexican men stop playing dominoes to watch us, and the old women scowl and turn away. He slips his fingers between my legs and pushes one inside—I’m so wet that I can barely feel it—and rolls my nipple between the fingers of his other hand. The world doesn’t even exist for anyone but us.
