Happy (almost) Valentines Day

13 Feb

Early, yes, but time is flying so fast for me right now that I suspect that it will be April the next time I look at the calendar, and then we’ll be planning for Thanksgiving and starting to Christmas shop again.

In other words, everything’s going beautifully, but it’s also going at the speed of sound around here.

Like, not so much this:

But more this:

With perhaps a hair of this:

So, yes, all is well, but I think I’ll need a good nap when things finally calm down. I’ve been spending a lot more one-on-one time with my preschooler, which is great for both of us. The yearly fundraiser that I volunteer with just had its black tie ball, which was a fabulously huge success by all appearances. The Polar Vortex pounced on our house and left us with loads of water damage and a hideously high deductible… On the bright side: new hardwood floors all over the downstairs, new carpet upstairs, and freshly painted garage. And on the bummer side of things, we’ll have to be out of the house for 3-4 weeks while they tear out the damaged floors and replace them. Also, the house (and my beautiful office) are a disarrayed wreck right now.

I’ve been writing loads and loads, but at this point it’s mainly my educational contract work, which I enjoy tremendously. I mean, I get to write poems about American heroes and short plays and bio pieces about Beyonce, so it’s pretty great. But I really, really want to wrap up my erotic space opera and then get going on a new romance project.

And speaking of romance, Prescott Woods is now out in print, which is pretty bitchin’. It combines Bubbles and Troubles AND Beds and Blazes, so you get double the toe-curling fun…

And I’ve got to rush off once more ~ time to pack up for a four-day ski weekend with the entire family. Yup, four-year old, 16 year old, 18 year old, my honey and me, along with wonderful friends from college and their two daughters. Can’t wait!

I hope you have a blissful Valentine’s day, no matter where you are and who you’re with. Thanks so much for stopping by ~ and, as always, please let me know your impressions of my writing. Your opinions really matter to me.

May Day, May Day!

14 Jan

Happy Tuesday! I woke up to a lovely 5-star review on Amazon for May Day from the Gothic Mom herself. May Day is a contemporary high-heat erotic novella with some giggles, some drama, and some scorching hot scenes. It’s set in Baton Rouge and Natchez, with scenes in the beautiful rural southeastern U.S.

I think you’ll love Marcy, the narrator and heroine of the story. She’s relatable, flawed, and perfectly lovable. Who wouldn’t be torn between the smokin’ hot, too-young laborer and the handsome, rich, totally appropriate bachelor? What’s a widow to do?

Read on for an adults-only excerpt from May Day. Marcy’s still reeling from yesterday’s X-rated outdoor encounter with Sam, the guy who’s building a patio for her neighbor. She heads to her back lawn, dreaming of round two, but some things just aren’t meant to be…

I hang up the phone and peek out my back door. It’s quiet, but I think I see a little movement in the backyard. My heart starts pounding. Is he back? Is he working today?

I comb my hair excitedly, cursing when I hit a snag, and brush my teeth. I don’t want to look too done, as if I’m trying too hard, so I skip the makeup and just put on a little lip gloss. I slip a sundress over my head, grab my X-rated novel and blanket, and walk through the garden path and the grass to the place I set up yesterday.

I see movement, but I want him to know that I’m indifferent. I refuse to cast my eyes over there because I’m in charge, right? I pull my dress off and lay out on the blanket again in my panties and bra. This time, I’ll make him wait before I take them off. I smile.

I hear muttering over in Melvin’s yard. Does he mumble to himself as he works? What’s he doing over there, anyway?

I suck in my stomach and arch my back so that my breasts thrust up into the air. It’s got to be driving him crazy. I undo my bra so that it hangs loosely over my boobs and start to rub light circles on my stomach, then slip my fingernails just beneath the elastic of my panties. I draw my eyebrows together and moan.

I hear a cough.

“Uh, Marcy? Are you okay?” a voice asks.

Aw, fuck, it’s Melvin! I sit up and quickly compose my face. “Why, hello, Melvin,” I say smoothly. “I didn’t see you there. I was just getting a little sun.” In my underwear. While I rub on myself. Shit, shit, shit. I avert my eyes as I fumble to rehook my bra.

“Yes, it’s a lovely day. I’m headed to the links myself for a foursome.” He scrubs one hand on the leathery back of his neck, permanently red-brown after a bazillion rounds of golf. He’s ignoring my frilly panties and bra, bless him, but his ears are beet red beneath the shiny dome of his head. “I was just inspecting the work I’m having done back here. I’ve admired the patio and walkway that you and Rick have for years.” He clears his throat awkwardly. “I mean that you have, Marcy. I’m so sorry for your loss.”

“Oh, thank you, Melvin. Rick was a wonderful man.” I make a concerted effort to look Melvin straight in his eyes and avoid rolling mine.

“Indeed he was,” Melvin agrees. “A kind and intelligent man, and a great neighbor. A real success story.” His gaze drifts down to my lace brassiere and then whips back up to my face. “Well, then, this stonework looks good so far, so I suppose I’ll take off. Enjoy the day, Marcy.”

He turns and goes inside.

I fall back on my blanket and shake my head.

I am an idiot.

Elodie Parkes with Forever Blue and Character Interviews

13 Jan

The lovely and talented Elodie Parkes is back ~ this time to talk about her latest release, Forever Blue. Welcome, Elodie, and congratulations on your new book!

Forevercoverblogger

‘Forever Blue,’ my December 20 release with Hot Ink Press, was inspired by the woodland near where I live. There’s a mysterious feel about the woods in autumn. It often feels as if something is watching. From the window of the room where I write, I can see across to nearby woods. I hear owls hoot at night. At dusk and dawn, there are strange mists that rise from the trees. It’s very lovely.

Claudie loves living in the countryside and close to the forests. She’s a film maker and works for the wildlife trust. One night she steps onto her patio and sees a man sheltering there. She confronts him and he runs away.

Jasper has watched Claudie for a year. He fell in love with her, but he has a secret, one that might mean he can never approach her.

Will love and fate find a way?

What secret must Jasper hide?

What’s the strange blue dust that turns up on Claudie’s patio?

Today the main characters from ‘Forever Blue,’ Jasper, and Claudie are visiting the blog to give their take on the story and each other.

So what’s hot about Forever Blue?

Jasper:

The love scenes.

The way Claudie responds to me. Her courage. The love story. It’s unusual and steamy.

Claudie:

The love scenes are hot, but then so is Jasper, I mean just look at him. The story is sumptuous. It’s rich in description so that you feel as if you’re in the places described, although I’d rather you weren’t in the love scenes. (smiles)

Jasper tell us about Claudie:

She’s a professional, and clever. She makes films. I think she’s beautiful and smokin’ hot. She cares about the environment and the creatures in the forest. (Laughs then and takes Claudie’s hand)

What about Jasper, Claudie, tell us about him:

He’s tall. He has these gorgeous muscles, that’s from working in the forest I guess. He’s sexy, sensual, loving. His kisses are to die for.

Jasper leans across to her, “Only my kisses?”

They gaze at each other for a moment.

So in just one word can you describe the story?

Jasper: Sexy

Claudie: Delicious

****

Five things I wanted for the story, ‘Forever Blue’ (from Elodie)

  1. A heroin who was capable, brave, ready for love, and not afraid to go for it.
  2. A hero who was hot, sexy, but not afraid to admit his love and need for his woman.
  3. A story that had an element of mystery and strangeness to fit the season.
  4. A story that took place in the country where silence and nature can conjure up the ethereal.
  5. A love story that sizzled with sex, but also touches your heart with happiness.

An excerpt from Forever Blue ~

She looked up into his gorgeous face.

He was propped on one elbow, and smiled at her again. He traced his fingers down her stomach to rest tantalizingly just above where she wanted them to be.

She lifted her hips to him, hoping his hand would slip down and he’d feel how wet she was, how much she needed him.

He closed his eyes as he leaned toward her face and kissed her tenderly. His fingers slid along her wet pussy and then he pushed them into her.

His thumb was against her clit, pressing deliciously. Claudie purred against his lips as they kissed. She rocked against the palm of his hand to have his fingers deeper inside her pussy. She held his shoulder muscles and moaned into his mouth. Her orgasm was building rapidly and she thrust her hips to his pumping.

Against her mouth, he whispered, “Come for me. I’m crazy about you. You feel so good.”

The words filtered through her lust numbed mind as she dug her fingernails into his back when she came, gasping at the intensity of the orgasm.

Jasper removed his fingers gently and lay between her legs.

Claudie ran her fingertips up and down the sides of his body. “Thrust into me.” Her voice made throaty from his nearness, his cock between her thighs, and the way her clit still pulsed.

“Oh, I will.” Jasper whispered into her ear.

A shiver of pleasure ran down to her breasts as he licked her ear. He trailed his tongue down her neck to suck as he slowly pushed his hard thick cock into her pussy. The feel of him, inch after inch, slowly filling her until he gave a final hard thrust was delicious. She held him tight and reached to suck at his neck the way he sucked at hers.

They both softly moaned as they sucked and in unison brought their mouths together to kiss each other slowly, tenderly and then hungrily.

Jasper thrust his cock in and out of her fast and hard. Then he slowed down and raising himself on his knees, he lifted her hips and looked into her eyes.

Claudie’s eyes were only half-open. They were heavy with lust. She felt drugged with sex, but she saw his eyes, and thought they were full of tenderness.

His thrusts were slow as he held her hips and his cock grazed her swollen clit. His hands possessed her hips and he fucked her until she came again moaning his name. Jasper held her under her bottom and pulled her hard onto his cock.

Claudie heard him groan, and then he pounded his cock into her as he came. She opened her eyes to see him come. His eyes were closed and his head thrown back a little. He looked erotic, beautiful, so sexy, and she sighed with pleasure. He’s so gorgeous. I think I’m falling in love with him, or falling in sex with him. I might love him soon. Her thoughts made her smile.

Jasper opened his eyes and gazed at her. He still held her under the bottom. His cock pulsed in her pussy. He smiled. “I’m falling in love with you.” His voice was soft and low.

YEARNING PIC-KATY AND GABE

Excerpt from Blood Reborn:

A house full of guests were gathered in the next room, but Ascher became too impassioned to stop. He swept her into his arms, walking them to the wall farthest from the living room. Wrapping his fingers around the pink cotton, he tore the panties from beneath her matching gown and murmured against the hollow of her throat, “We have people in the living room.”

Her hand swiped across the black double dresser, scattering crystal figurines and papers onto the floor, adding to the mess from her earlier rage. “Ash, I so don’t care right now.” She squeezed his dick through the jeans, her tongue slipping along the pale skin of his neck. “I won’t scream if you don’t. You can be quiet, can’t you?” She grazed the razor point of one fang across the two moles near his throat.

Her action caused his cock to jump in response. Grasping a handful of her hair to lift her gaze to his, he growled, “You know what that does to me.”

“I know exactly what it does to you. Question is, what are you going to do about it?”

Ascher tossed her on the dresser, spreading her legs to allow his fingers access to her clit. His thumb circling the swollen button, he moaned, “I’m going to take you right here on this dresser.”

“Good, because I can’t wait until tonight.” Her fingers undid the button-fly in his jeans, her hand freeing his hard on from its denim prison. She nipped at his bottom lip, drawing blood, and then sucked on the soft flesh until the sting travelled the length of his body, making his erection pain in her hand.

Ascher knotted his fingers into the loose hair at the crown of her head. “You keep that up and you’re going to get it.”

“You promise?” With a careless lash of her clawed digits, Shauna stripped the nightgown from her body. Her bare breasts sprang free, the velvety nipples pointed with excitement. Her stare grew serious and flashed a stormy gray. “Come and get me, Ascher.”

He pulled on the French braid in her head, running his fingers along the plait until loose ribbons of dark flowing locks spilled down her back and over her face. She looked so fucking sexy, and he used every ounce of his restraint to hold back the urge to screw her into exhaustion.

Seizing her face in his hands, he took her mouth, pulling her against him and pinning his shaft to her soaked folds. “You’re mine,” he growled, edging his hips forward to feel her. The heat of her sex taunted his cock, firing an inferno in his blood. “I can’t believe you’re finally mine.”

Her head fell back in submission. “Yes. Yours. I’ll always be yours, Ascher.” She breathed winded pants. “Now fuck me.”

One minute she was restrained beneath him, her body writhing and arching against him, begging for his dick. The next, she pushed him beneath her, taking matters into her own hands. “Lie back,” she demanded, sinking to her knees and pushing him back against the wall. “I have a surprise for you.”

“Shauna, there are people in the next—Ahhh, baby what are you doing?”

“Pleasuring you.” She caught him with the full force of her silvery gaze. “Do you want me to stop?”

He felt powerless to stop her. “No.” His hands gripped the edge of the dresser, his claws shredding the black lacquered finish. “Don’t stop.”

About Ashlynne Laynne/Q. Lane

Ashlynne Laynne/Q. Lane is a songwriter, poet and author of erotic paranormal and contemporary romance, who has always had a soft spot in her heart for vampires but grew tired of the garlic fearing, sun-loathing creatures of old. An avid horror movie fan, she tends to enjoy media and music that is of a younger, more eclectic nature. This was the catalyst for her writing The Progeny.

She loves writing on the edge—combining the erotica and romance genres—and thinks of Ascher and Shauna as the wicked, damned version of Romeo and Juliet. She is currently working on book six of her Progeny Series, book one of her upcoming Alterity Series, and several novella spin offs. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, reading and spending time with her family. She juggles the hats of wife, mother, full time employee and part-time writer, hoping to write exclusively one day soon. Find and follow her online on Twitter. Check out her Manic Readers page, Blog and Website, or leave a note in her Reader Email.

Fall of 2013, Ashlynne Laynne started her own publishing, Q-Rotic Press. The remainder of her Progeny Series and all future projects will release through this new entity.

She lives in North Carolina with her husband and son.

 About The Progeny Series

At its core, The Progeny Series is simply about a man and woman who fall in love. The fact that he’s a half-blood (half-human, half vampire) and she’s a Wiccan human are secondary factors. When we meet Ascher, he’s grumpy. Frankly, who could blame him? He’s engaged to seal to Ursula—a cold and careless vampire who wants nothing more than to get her hands on a bloodstone— and he feels conflicted about his existence.

All of that changes when he meets Shawnette McCutchin. She’s beautiful, intriguing and possesses some of the most potent blood that he’s ever smelled. A war immediately begins inside Ascher. He craves Shauna’s blood just as much as he craves her body and the closer they get, the harder it is for him to control his urges. After Ascher calls off the sealing to Ursula, the trouble begins. His family’s peaceful period ends when Ursula’s army attacks the Rousseaus.

This series encompasses a family dynamic of which we’ve never seen. The Rousseaus share a common mortal and immortal bloodline, but loyalty is the thread binding this clan. Shauna and Ascher’s dissuaded love only strengthens the family bonds. Their unique union transcends bloodlines and completes the prophecy, defying the beliefs of centuries old covenants while shattering the wall between the Wiccan and vampire worlds that has existed for ages. This series is erotic paranormal romance intended for adults, as it contains adult sensuality, language and themes.
